Start at 1:05 if you want. And read the video description before you go on being a dumbass rehashing things that have been said.

Also, don’t be a fucking idiot on public roads. I don’t want to see you lose your life.

I’m just happy the driver ended up alive.

that car seemed like it was in great shape for what happened. Feeling pretty good about the GF driving her forester. Now if she could just remember to check the oil regularly. It uses more oil than it ought to.

Maybe he had wrong tyre pressures? That theory hasn’t been yet suggested...

I read the video description the first time this was posted, and I still don’t quite get what happened. I see they were going too fast. I see that they didn’t expect the road to curve. ??? But you’d sort of expect them to bash into the guard rail on the outside of the curve, rather than roll off the cliff on the inside of the curve.

Holy shit!

I’d like to think that in a similar situation I would yell out,”WHEEEE!”. But it’d probably be uncontrollable sobbing before I even went over the ledge.

This came up as a post yesterday evening, and it’s strange - I believe he took way too much speed into the turn and he reacted late to it. He almost veered off the right side of the road, but it appears because he reacted late he turned in hard left, and probably ended up either braking or taking off the throttle completely, upsetting the balance and bringing the arse end around.

For everyone involved, I think the best way to enjoy corners on public roads is slow in/fast out; I know it’s applied to racing but diving into corners carelessly is dangerous, whereas a more cautious approach confirms you are in control and you can make the most of maintaining that control through the exit.

I’ve seen the video and read the description and the only advice I could give the guy is that when he countersteered, he should have given it more throttle instead of staying on the brakes. AWD and FWD can have some pretty miraculous oversteer recovery with the proper application of throttle.

Yeah, agreed but it’s easy to panic when the sun flares in your eyesimmediately as you exit the tunnel and then all of a sudden a left hander and you’ve been doing over 100.

Yeah. Being able to overcome panic like that takes years and years of practice. Hopefully the guy will take this as a learning experience.

Or simulation practice, so that the habit kicks in before the fear. ala GT academy

My GT seat time saved my ass once: I was doing 75 on a wide arch On-ramp, and the back end started to walk on me. GT reflexes took over and I stayed with the trottle and slightly counter steered till it was back in line. If I had not had that struggle in the game my natual dumb instinct would have been to lift off and apply the brakes...and we all know how that goes...

Isn’t this whole post rehashing things that have been said? It’s been posted a handful of times in the last few days.
